Social media promo concepts for Mad Decent artist FKi 1st.
FKi 1st describes his sound as "Atlanta trap that goes left" and "genre-less", these graphic styles aim to reflect that by capitalizing on visual trends in the industry, but skewing them slightly to create something new and unique, similar to the way that FKi combines popular elements of multiple genres to develop a fresh sound.
Collage art has risen back as a popular trend for album artwork in hip-hop and other genres, as demonstrated on Migo's recent "Culture" album cover as well as Anderson Paak's "Malibu" album artwork. The visuals here could easily stand alone as one-off art pieces for Fki 1st to use as promotional content, or more beneficially, could be used to create a larger visual system that could span across multiple media platforms.
The style demonstrated in this gif is inspired by the dark, almost surrealist style applied to some of Fki 1st recent visuals such as his "For What It's Worth" video and the "First Time for Everything" album artwork. The glitchy, dark style lets the audience know that his sound is unique before they hear the music.
